When you walk in and the owner is excited that you're vegetarian so you can try all of the options he's cooked up for folks like you, you know you're in for a treat! From jackfruit you cactus to seitan, there are AMPLE options at Zona Centro for plant based folks. They can wrap it up in a burrito, serve over rice, serve over salad, serve with tortillas, etc. I couldn't choose just one.
All options are so delicious. The owner made sure to tell me he uses ALL of the spices he would for meat but for the plant-based options. He said I could just have them all. Um, yes! He served them for me with a little rice and frijoles on the side with a nicely toasted tortilla. Perfection! I enjoyed every bite.
Too bad I won't be there for the last Saturday of every month where he says they do a big vegan cookout. Please go to this for me! -

My first ever experience eating in this relatively new /still under construction eatery, but certainly not my last!
Another couple, my wife & I attended the. September concert of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra at the World-class Plaza Theatre downtown, and we had a lovely meal closeby/kind of easy walking distance (which meandered slightly through the ongoing major downtown reconstruction/renovation/preservation).
I was impressed that, despite the continuing worksite status of this eatery and few tables/stools/counter available, it was a delicious healthy, easily vegan/vegetarian-ready eatery. Even if congested, I saw all persons being accommodated--from wheelchair users to slow Gimpwalkers (me) and everyone. The menu was of fairly basic fare, toppings that included tomatoes, beans, rice, guacamole, salsa, and something I hadn't seen since participating in a great Grasshopper Adventures biketour in Sri Lanka: Jackfruit. I thought it unusual in that Jackfruit trees existed most places whilst bike touring overseas, but considered a rare delicacy here.
The entire meal was delicious! I certainly give this fine eatery my hearty "Wheel of Approval!" -

Moved to EP recently and wanted to explore local Mexican food. Someone recommended this place, and I was not disappointed. Juan, the chef, was extremely friendly and offered to customize my order any way I wanted. I got a milanesa and jackfruit al pastor torta, and it was fantastic. Definitely going to eat more of their vegan dishes, since that jackfruit was the best part of the meal for sure.
This is sure to go into my frequent rotation. Highly recommend it! -

What an awesome place! They serve meat, but also have a really impressive range of vegan options. It seems like the vegan offerings change with some frequency, and some days they have more than others, so you may want to call ahead and see what they have that day.
One of the things I've missed since I stopped eating meat is mole (which is often made with chicken stock, and usually served on top of more chicken or other meat.) Zona Centro made me a vegan "chicken" mole burrito that was out of this world. The burrito was $8 or $9, and was long and skinny, so not Chipotle-chain-style huge. I added a side of guac and chips, and had more than enough food.
You order at the counter, and the employee was really friendly and helpful, and even let folks in our group sample the different vegan "meats" to decide what we wanted. I got to try a faux meat made from hibiscus flowers, which was super interesting and tasted great, although it was very salty. The chicken mole was a bit salty, too, but the flavors worked well with the rest of the burrito.
It wasn't busy on a Friday afternoon, and it seems like they sell a lot of food to-go, too. If I'm back in El Paso, I'll definitely check it out again. -

Tasty food, super quick and extremely friendly folks. This is my first time in El Paso and stopped in for lunch. I worked for awhile and it was a great, bustling vibe right down town.
